Bill Cartwright is a retired professional basketball player and coach. He was born on July 30, 1957 in Lodi, California. Cartwright played college basketball at the University of San Francisco before being selected as the third overall pick in the 1979 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.
Cartwright played in the NBA for 16 seasons, spending time with the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, and Seattle SuperSonics. He won three NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls in 1991, 1992, and 1993.
After retiring as a player, Cartwright went on to have a successful coaching career in the NBA. He served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls and later as the head coach of the Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets.
